Mary S. Wright
Assistant Director
Growing up in NYC, Broadway was Mary's backyard. She acted off Broadway in a musical of Tom Sawyer and pursued acting, including a role on daytime tv & commercials. Mary returned to her college major, education. She taught for 40 years & also directed school plays. In 1990, Mary & music teacher, Patti Vandal, were given $500 in start-up money by the Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force to stage a play with the youth of Jamestown. Mary & Patti insisted on a cast and crew that included both adults & children to foster positive relationships between generations. The first show was Peter Pan & included about 45 cast members. A success ensued & for almost 30 years, Mary & Patti directed casts, which sometimes included over 100 people! At times, Mary acted in the plays, going back to her roots on stage. Taking a break from theatre for 7 years, she has returned to co-direct several recent shows, and she is delighted to see a new generation of JCT participants.
