Nalo Merriman was born in New York.  Nalo was exposed to the life of entertainment at a very early age, which impacted her profoundly. Being academically competitive and wanting to attain proficiency to become a successful professional, Nalo began her skills growing and nurturing her acting abilities throughout elementary, high school and college.  She gained love for the stage and performed in stage plays at her high school “Northwestern” in Hyattsville, Maryland. She starred in “Grease”, West-Side Story”, and Romeo and Juliet”. Desiring to pursue her acting abilities she continued to study Drama at Prince Georges Community College. From there she starred in a headliner at the Prince Georges Community College with the theatre group “Hallam Theatre”. Also she starred in the play “Jo Turner Come and Gone” by August Wilson, playing the role of “Bertha Holly”.  With the Direction of her manager “Linda Townsend” she began to star as extras in “America’s Kids”, Bruce Brown Productions, and more.  She has done numerous plays with Theatre Group “Sister Circle” and “What Must I do To Be Saved".  She was also in a former dance group called “Mission.” In the year of 2002, Nalo had a powerful vision to change her fate and write, direct, produce and mentor.  Loved, admired, and supported by her family, friends, and fellow actors, she created a pilot for a sitcom called “Coming Up.”  Determined to set the television stage for our young black woman she directed, cast, wrote, and produced the show.  With the help of her longtime friend Marsha Hampton, they not only worked hard to make this dream a reality but they also held a premiere at the Zanzibar in Washington, DC. "Not only am I smart, and black but, whatever in life you want to do the sky is the limits with hard work, persistence, and GOD, all things can get done". Nalo continues to motivate young youth and teens by mentoring and preparing them for the entertainment industry. Whether it’s modeling or acting she is there to assist them in every way.  

Her Stage play “Trapped” was a successful stage play in the Washington, D.C., VA and Baltimore area.  Nalo is working on a new movie "Playing For Keeps" that she co-wrote with her son, Barry Battle. She is touring with her new Hit Stage Play “Waldy Street!” where secrets will unfold.
