What a fun show! It’s always exciting to put on a show that takes you back to your childhood, and this one definitely did. The costumes are bright, the set is fun, the lines are silly, and the songs are catchy. Luckily, I’m far enough removed from my childhood to really appreciate the “kiddiness” of it all, it’s nostalgic for me! But sometimes, high schoolers have a tough time stepping back into their elementary mindset without feeling silly. I’m so proud of this cast and crew for being confident and secure enough to find their inner child. They jumped into their costumes, memorized their couplets, and danced like nobody was watching. They were patient, excited, and driven. They battled winter weather, schedule changes, and long and arduous rehearsals expertly. I couldn’t be more humbled by their tenacity, this show has a LOT going on, and they’re more than ready to show you what they’ve been working on.
Sit back, settle in, and let your imagination take over. Enjoy the silliness. Thank you for coming, enjoy the show, and in closing, I’ll leave you with my favorite Dr. Seuss quote, “Why fit in, when you were born to stand out?”
~ Kate McDonald, Stage Director
To our friends in the seats, to the big and the small, we’re so glad that you came! We're so glad for you all. The curtain is rising, the lights are turned low, and you’re just in time for a marvelous show.
It begins with a beat and a rhythmic low hum, with a kick of the foot and a tap of the drum. From the very first note that the orchestra plays, you'll be lost in a musical, magical maze. We’ve filled up the stage with a hullabaloo, of jazz and of ragtime and rock-and-roll, too. There are ballads so soft they might make a heart break, and big company numbers that cause the floorboards to shake!
Our actors have practiced their “Do-Re-Mi-Fa,” to bring you a show full of “Zing!” and “Zah-Zah!” They’ve stretched out their voices and polished each trill, To give you a melodic, Seuss-ified thrill. They came after school when they’d rather be sleeping, to practice their hopping and bopping and leaping. They memorized lines till they knew them by heart, and poured all their souls into every small part. From the lead center-stage to the crew in the rear, They’ve worked for months to be ready to cheer!
And while these bright stars were all busy rehearsing, And I was busy directing and... Seuss-ing, two people kept me from spinning away, and helped me get through every long, busy day. To my sweet husband, Chris, I owe a big "Thank you" and more, for the dinners, the dishes, and minding the door. And to my dear daughter, Isla, who’s silly and sweet, whose hugs are the reason I stay on my feet! You both are my anchor, my home, and my cheer, I’m so very lucky to have you both here.
Now the curtain is rising! The singers are set! It’s a musical adventure you’ll never forget. So sit on your sitting-parts, ready to hear, The most wonderful noises are about to enter your ear!
~ Anna Miller, Vocal Director
