MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Since its Broadway debut in 1977, Annie has become a timeless classic, with its catchy songs, memorable characters, and uplifting story. At its core, however, is the universal theme of hope.

Children possess a special kind of hope and resilience. As we grow older, both of these aspects have an occasional habit of retreating from us. For children, however, life is just beginning. They have the time to dream and hope. And when they fail? They have time to try and try again.

This is precisely what little orphan Annie does. In the face of adversity– living in a failing orphanage with a monstrous caretaker, working all day and deep into the night, constantly feeling the pangs of hunger in the midst of the Great Depression– hope keeps moving Annie forward. She never loses her belief that life can improve. In a world full of uncertainty, Annie’s optimism reminds us that hope isn’t just a feeling—it’s a choice. Her determination sparks change in everyone she meets, showing that no matter the struggles, a better tomorrow is always within reach.

DEDICATION

Each year, the most exciting part of musical season at WIS is watching the production come to life after the initial announcement. Behind every step of the way, making it all possible, is one particular person– Mrs. Lisa Brown.

By day, she works the front desk of Walsh Intermediate School. By night (and, quite frankly, whenever she can!), she’s our dedicated producer. Her role covers it all—organizing volunteers, liaising with committee chairs, managing ads, coordinating meals for the hard-working set crew, handling merchandise, ensuring smooth tech week, and SO MUCH MORE! She manages to do all of this while keeping every cast and crew member safe, comfortable, and happy.

Mrs. Brown carries on her tasks with unwavering compassion and a smile that would even win over Miss Hannigan. In an alternate universe, Mrs. Brown is the Miss Hannigan the orphans deserve. She truly believes this process is always about the kids, and her focus on their well-being and happiness shines through in everything she does. Whenever there’s a potential gap, she’s there with a calm, knowing smile—always one step ahead.

This year, we proudly dedicate our production to Mrs. Lisa Brown and look forward to many more years of her incredible support!
