Hello Dear Patron!
On behalf of the cast and crew of "Catch Me If You Can" I want to say thank you for coming to our performance! Since its release in 2002, "Catch Me If You Can" has intrigued audiences the world over! The dashing life of Frank William Abagnale Jr. and his eluding of Carl Hanratty has fascinated many.
When the musical hit Broadway on April 10, 2011 with Aaron Tevit as Frank Abagnale Jr., and Norbert Leo Butz as Carl Hanratty it garnered 4 Tony Nominations; including Best Actor in a Musical for Butz and Best Musical. It played for 170 performances at the Neil Simon Theatre and closed on Septembr 4, 2011. In 2012, a non-equity national tour took to the road.
One of the things that has drawn me to this musical, is the flavor and fun of the 1960s. It almost feels like a bit of a 1960s musical sitcom. That may be due to the fact that the team that wrote this musical also wrote Hairspray: The Musical, so it leaves no question that this show has that same flair! Ms. A and myself started designing the set for this show last spring, and we knew that we wanted all the color, all the pizazz, and the pit smack dab in the center of the set!
To say I am proud is an understatement. These students have learned choreography, challenging music, and despite hurricanes, work days, and other setbacks, they have come together to create a fabulous performance for you. Their excitement is off the charts, and I have to say, those of us on the production staff may be just as bad as they are in our enthusiasm for this production!
