Footloose - March 19 - March 21, 2026

Mount Vernon Christian School

 Director's Note

Last spring I made the decision to step back from directing “for now”. This was not quite the amount of time I was initially expecting but here we are. Rewind to last November and we still didn’t have any applicants to take on the Musical. Eliane and Mike were set to help but we still needed to find a director to lead the charge.

But looking at the potential cast and having NINE Seniors who have acted in a combined 65 MVC productions amongst them, there was a desire to see these students through to their final production (I’m still not ready to talk about it….) So Mike, Eliane, and I sat in the back at the final production of Not Another High School Play and sketched out a plan to make it work among the three of us. And we launched.

The ride was not without bumps and bruises starting with auditions scheduled in the midst of a flood, family emergencies, and my new schedule as the 7-12 Principal. But the resilience of this cast has seen it through to the tremendous production we see on the stage today.

Footloose is a movie many of us may be familiar with. The musical, however, will introduce you to some new songs you may not know. Don’t worry, the classics are still included. The story is one of forgiveness and the courage to stand up for what you believe in. The change in heart that takes place in many of our characters resonates true today. Through the grace provided through Christ, we can in turn be gracious to those around us.

As our students perform, I thank you for being a part of our success by coming to see Footloose. We are grateful for your support. If you wish to continue to support Mount Vernon Christian Drama financially (as Musicals aren’t cheap to put on!), feel free to see myself or send an email to the administration office (nlatulippe@mountvernonchristian.org).

Now it is time to kick off your Sunday Shoes (But please actually keep your shoes on for the whole performance), sit back, and enjoy the show!

Thanks for coming!
