Freaky Friday - November 07 - November 09, 2024

Pella High School

 End Notes

There have been multiple versions of Freaky Friday based on the book by Mary Rogers, and each version finds a new audience. This musical adaptation was first produced in 2016, and a Disney Channel Original Movie version aired in 2018. Since then, the show has been brought to life by many community theaters and high schools across the country.

What is it about this story that is so appealing? There are the recognizable problems between a parent and a teen, compounded by the pressure of several major events. Add in the magical body swapping, and it is a story of learning to understand another person. Of course, in real life we have to rely on empathy to understand other people, and this can be a difficult task. If we were able to truly stand in someone else's shoes the world might be very different. Everything certainly changes for Katherine and Ellie Blake.

Thank you to the wonderful students in the cast and crew. Thank you also to all of the adults who have worked on the show; Tyler Gajewski, Sam Nau, Dameon Place, Brystal Hopkins, Jason Zylstra, Ashlee Whittington, Barb Nunnikoven, Steve McCombs, and Autumn Bennett. Your time and talents are very much appreciated!

Finally, thank you to the audience - there wouldn't be theater without you.
