Hello! It is with gratitude that I welcome you to the 2025 2026 Fine Arts Musical, Into the Woods. It has been such a delight directing this show and working alongside the directors in the department.
This production is especially meaningful to me, as it is my very first musical here at Prosper High School. While Into the Woods became our selection due to unforeseen circumstances and a last minute change, it has long been a dream of mine to direct this musical. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and this show found its way to us at exactly the right moment.
From the very first conversation Mr. Kulmann and I had about the set design, we knew this production had the potential to be something truly phenomenal. Our hope was to create a world that feels immersive, where the audience does not just watch the story unfold but feels as though they have stepped directly into the woods alongside our characters. My inspiration for this design came from the original Broadway production of Into the Woods, which I believe remains the most powerful and iconic interpretation of the show. If you are familiar with that production, you may find joy in spotting a few subtle nods and inspirations woven throughout our staging.
One of the greatest joys of this process has been watching our students pour their hearts into this production. Their dedication, creativity, and willingness to rise to every challenge has been incredibly inspiring. The costumes you see onstage tonight were entirely designed by our students, and many of them were hand made. That level of craftsmanship, ownership, and pride is what makes this work so special and reminds me why I love what I do.
I am grateful to Mr. Kulmann for his commitment to bringing this vision to life and for supporting my many, sometimes wild, ideas throughout this process. A heartfelt thank you goes to the parents of every student in our cast, crew, and pit for supporting their dedication to this craft and trusting us with their time and talents. We are also deeply thankful for our administrators for their continued support and enthusiasm for the arts. Finally, a very special thank you to my husband for his constant support and for generously letting us borrow his truck to transport the many set pieces that made this show and other events possible.
We hope tonight’s performance reminds you that wishes have consequences, stories matter, and even in the darkest woods, we are never truly alone.
On behalf of each fine arts director involved in this production, thank you for attending tonight’s performance of Into the Woods. We are excited to have you here and hope that you enjoy this show and everything it offers.
We also invite you to continue supporting Prosper High School Theatre this season by joining us for our upcoming productions. Disney Reality on February 19 21, our UIL One Act Play, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, on March 9, and Pippin on April 22, 24, and 25.
With deep gratitude,
Mrs. Likam
