Shrek The Musical Jr - May 21 - May 22, 2026

Shelton Intermediate School

 Director's Message

Welcome to the SIS Drama Club’s production of Shrek Jr.!

It is truly special to bring this story to life on our stage: a story that reminds us that “what makes us special makes us strong.” This production feels particularly full-circle for me, as my journey in directing began with Shrek back in 2016-2017. To stand here now, 9 SIS Drama Club productions later and my 10th year directing in Shelton, is both humbling and incredibly rewarding. Over the years, this has grown and become a place where students find their voices, take risks, build confidence, and discover that they belong exactly as they are.

Of course, no journey like this is ever traveled alone. I am endlessly grateful to my incredible directing and creative teams-Erik, Becca, Gianna, Charmaine, Katie, Michael, Addie, Murphy, Michele, and Courtney whose creativity, passion, and commitment have brought this show to life in ways that inspire me every day. Their work behind the scenes ensures that our students shine brightly on stage. I also want to thank my family and loved ones, whose constant encouragement and support have been my foundation throughout my entire musical theatre journey.

As with any great story, the journey is always unfolding in ways we don’t fully see at first. What makes something like this so special is how it continues to grow, shaped by the people who care deeply about it and carry it forward in their own way. It is an incredible privilege to be a chapter of this story because it is one filled with heart, joy, and endless possibilities.

To our audience, I hope you leave tonight with more than just laughter and applause. Shrek Jr. reminds us to look beyond appearances, to celebrate what makes each of us unique, and to lead with kindness and acceptance. In a world that often asks us to fit into a mold, this story encourages us to proudly stand out and to make room for others to do the same.

Thank you for being here, for supporting the arts, and for believing in the power of storytelling.

Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the show because

“once upon a time” is just the beginning.
