Welcome to this performance of the Van Wyck Drama Club!
I have been involved in theater and music in some regard since elementary school. I fell in love with theater then and have loved it ever since. I learned countless lessons through my time in the theater and I have greatly enjoyed teaching those same lessons to these hardworking students and often learning even more of my own!
The story of Annie is one of resilience and joy, something I see in this group of students every time they enter my room. Annie’s unique optimism and can-do spirit serves as a lesson all of us can learn from. The cast worked tirelessly to portray the story of this boundlessly optimistic young girl and her escape from unfortunate beginnings. The stage crew did incredible work to portray Great Depression Era America through their set designs.
I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Castro, Mr. Bjorkman, Mrs. Burke, Mr. Weinrich, Mr. Brainerd, and all the parents and school staff members who have helped us to make this show a reality.
To all the students involved… It has been a joy to experience your hard work and dedication during these last 3 months. I hope you leave this production with fond memories of time spent with your fellow cast and crew members and a love of theater to last a lifetime. Thank you for your hours of hard work that went into making this wonderful production a reality. I hope you leave Annie with a sense of pride in all the accomplishments you have achieved together.
To our patrons… Thank you for coming out for the show and for being a patron of the performing arts. Please enjoy this performance of Annie Junior!
