Thank you for joining us for our fourth annual Alumni & Community Theater event at Indian Creek School!
This cast and crew is a joyous jumble of alumni who hadn't set foot on stage in years, faculty who spend their days in classrooms and their summer evenings at Rydell High, community members, parents, and a couple who are almost all of the above at once. Some of them are old friends. Some met each other on day one of rehearsal and are now inseparable. Every one of them is exactly what ACT@theCREEK is about: unique, kind, generous, and proud of the work.
Grease is fun. It’s not going to make you think deeply about your place in the Universe, but the show is nostalgic in the most light-hearted way, and is irresistible because of it. It snuck up on us in rehearsals because as we worked on each song, it was always a chorus of, “Oh yeah! I love this one!” Grease is a reminder that music and friends and good times just go together. Sometimes like Ramma-Lamma-Ding-Dong. We hope you have the same experience tonight and disappear into harmonies, hand jives, and watching people who genuinely enjoy each other's company.
Indian Creek last produced Grease in 2010, with a high school cast (Shout-out to Dawson Olsen ’13 who is our first alumni to be in two of the same show). Doing it now, with this group, has been its own kind of time warp with the same songs and the same attitude, but sung by people who have lived a little more life since then. Turns out the show has even more heart at than we remembered.
Finally, a special welcome to our returning alumni. We'd love to see you on stage next year.
